Our Purpose
The fundamental purpose of the CHS Media Center is to provide
resources and services in a positive environment which will
contribute to lifelong learning.
Our Goal
Our goal is that the entire CHS community of faculty, staff, and
students find in the Media Center both access to information and
inspiration for ideas.
Media Center Hours
7:30 AM — 4:00 PM
Closed Monday After School
Your student ID is required to check out CHS Media Center materials.
Check-out time is two weeks. Overdue fines are 5¢ per day. Some
reference materials can be checked out overnight.
Media Center Research Resource Links
– These resources are available for use away
from school. Student username and password will be needed
for the use of some of the following resources from home.
Students should see a media specialist if a password is needed.
History of the CHS Media Center

In 1932, Myrtle C. Blackmon began the process of
developing the first full-sized, full-time library in a public
school in the state of Georgia here at Columbus High.

After purchasing most of the books with her own
money, the library opened in 1937.
