Congratulations to the girls’ soccer team! They have advanced to the State Semifinals by beating Spalding 2-0 on Saturday.  They will next play on Wednesday, May 14, at 7:00 PM against Veterans High School.  That game will take place at Perry High School, which is just south of Warner Robins.

Lacrosse Makes History - If you see a lacrosse player, please congratulate her on another great season.  The awesome Coach McDaniel would like especially to thank Coach Catchings for being a great assistant coach this year. She helped lead the JV to a 6-1-2 season, the best JV lacrosse season in CHS history!

 Volunteer Orientation - Columbus Museum will be holding Orientation on Thursday, May 15th at 3:30 in Mr. Jiles room 304.  This is mandatory for all students who are volunteering at the museum over the summer.

French Club - The last French club party will be held on Friday, May 16th from 3:40-4:40 in room 305. Track & Field Banquet - The track & field team will be having their banquet Monday May 19th 5:00p-8:00p in the school’s cafeteria. Athletes who are attending need to come to the coaches office and check off by their name by Thursday May 15th.

Girls Soccer Team Advances - The Lady Blue Devils move on to the AAAA Quarterfinals after defeating a tough Chamblee team 3-1.  They now are home against Spalding HS on Saturday morning at 11:00.  The location is still being determined; the match will either be played at CSU or Kinnett Stadium.  Come and support these outstanding athletes!

Girls Soccer Team Advances - The second round AAAA Girls State Soccer Match between Columbus High School and Chamblee High School will be played Wednesday, May 7at 7:30 at Kinnett Stadium, located adjacent to the Shaw High School Campus.

 Columbus Urban Debate League Summer Camp - Columbus High School Policy Debaters will be partnering with Emory University and the Columbus Urban Debate League to teach public policy to anyone who would like to sign up.  Sign-ups end on May 20th and cost $5.  See any policy debater or come to our informational meeting after school on Wednesday, May 7thin room 316.

 

State Winner - Congratulations to Trenton Smith, who won 1st place in his division and Best of Class at the State Social Studies Fair this weekend.

Dance Team - Are you interested in becoming a member of the Columbus High School Dance Team? Tryouts will be held Saturday, May 31st at 9am in the CHS gym. There will be an informational meeting for interested dancers and parents on Tuesday May 27th at 5pm at Columbus High School in Room 209.  The girls tennis team defeated Chamblee High School 4-1 to move on to the semi-finals of the state playoffs! They will play West Laurens this week.

 

Trenton Smith won 1st place in his division and Best of Class at the state Social Studies Fair this weekend. Congratulations Trenton!

We Are Up in the Rankings - Columbus High is now #4 in the state and  #125 in the Nation in US News & World Report's assessment of secondary education. Both are improvements from last year’s #5 and #202 rankings.

 Air Show Volunteers - Girls INC is looking for 15-20 volunteers on Monday, May 5th and Friday, May 9th, from 3:30 - 6:30.  That would earn you 6 of the 9 hours you need.  The remaining three could be done at the soccer complex.  Sign up on Coach Perry's door now for this opportunity (room 310).

 Seniors who are members of NEHS - If you are in good standing, you may come by room 321 during 3rd block or after school the week of May 19th to pick up your NEHS cord to wear at graduation.

            As discussed at the meeting in April,  if a senior needs to make up missed meetings and a service hour then the student must bring 4 books for each requirement NOT met.  All this must be completed prior to Monday, May 19th.

Track & Field Advance to State - The following Blue Devils will be competing for the state championship in their events!  Girls compete this week in Albany and boys compete next week in Jefferson.  Please congratulate them and wish them luck!

Achievers International - Achievers International will be having a Fair Trade event in the cafeteria during all lunch periods again tomorrow May 2nd. There will be drawings for prizes. You must be there to be placed in the drawings. Come learn about Fair Trade and win yummy Fair Trade products!
