We Are Up in the Rankings - Columbus High is now #4 in the state and  #125 in the Nation in US News & World Report's assessment of secondary education. Both are improvements from last year’s #5 and #202 rankings.

 Air Show Volunteers - Girls INC is looking for 15-20 volunteers on Monday, May 5th and Friday, May 9th, from 3:30 - 6:30.  That would earn you 6 of the 9 hours you need.  The remaining three could be done at the soccer complex.  Sign up on Coach Perry's door now for this opportunity (room 310).

 Seniors who are members of NEHS - If you are in good standing, you may come by room 321 during 3rd block or after school the week of May 19th to pick up your NEHS cord to wear at graduation.

            As discussed at the meeting in April,  if a senior needs to make up missed meetings and a service hour then the student must bring 4 books for each requirement NOT met.  All this must be completed prior to Monday, May 19th.

Achievers International - Achievers International will be having a Fair Trade event in the cafeteria during all lunch periods again tomorrow May 2nd. There will be drawings for prizes. You must be there to be placed in the drawings. Come learn about Fair Trade and win yummy Fair Trade products!

Excellent Summer Opportunity - South Dakota School of Mines and Technology has an exciting summer camp program for ambitious students entering grades 9-12 interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. There are programs available in the following fields: Geology, Fossils, Mining and Explosive Engineering, electronics and computers, Metallurgy, Chemical and Biological Engineering, and Robotics.

     Each camp is a week-long program on the School of Mines campus. Students will live in the dorms and get in-depth, hands-on experience working with SDSMT professors.  The curricula are fun and engaging, but also challenging enough to provide students with a great pre-college experience.

Football cheerleaders  - There will be a mandatory meeting for all football cheerleaders and their parents on Wednesday, April 30. Varsity will meet at 4:00 p.m., and JV will meet at 5:00 p.m.

Scholarship Opportunity - The JVA Scholarship applications are now open! The application deadline is Wednesday, April 30, 2014. The MSG Jared Van Aalst foundation has $13,000 to award.
