Advanced Placement Courses (AP®)

The Advanced Placement Program is a nationally recognized cooperative venture between high schools and colleges and universities. The program provides students with opportunities to take college level courses in a high school setting. Dedicated and enthusiastic faculty who follow course guidelines developed and published by the College Board teach AP courses.

Students are strongly encouraged to enroll in AP courses, as success in AP remains a standard used by colleges for admission decisions and a predictor of future academic success. College credit is awarded based on student performance on the comprehensive AP examination.

Invest in the future through twenty-three AP courses offered at CHS and receive college credit starting in the 9th grade. Courses may be taken in each major area of study.

Most colleges accept AP credit, and some Columbus High students have entered college as sophomores with their AP credits. You can complete college in three years or earn a master’s degree in four.
